Couples Therapy

I have years of training and clinical experience working with couples from a variety of gender, sexual orientation, and relationship identities.  Every relationship is a unique system that unites two different histories and intimacy styles and it makes sense that conflict can arise from time to time. My role is to align with each member and view the relationship itself as the client. Interventions are often aimed at enhancing communication skills in order to increase understanding and empathy for one another's feelings and experience.

Individual Psychotherapy

My approach to psychotherapy is multidimensional.  This allows for some flexibility and creativity in order to meet the diverse needs we have as human beings. The strength of the relationship between person and therapist is the foundation of good psychotherapy. I see myself as riding in the passenger side, offering guidance and suggestions on potential directions, while clients ultimately remain in control of the vehicle.

My practice is grounded in a psychodynamic theory, which seeks to bring conscious awareness to psychological processes that contribute to emotional pain and relationship problems. I also incorporate interventions based on the theories of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in order to help clients increase tolerance and flexibility in managing challenging aspects of the human experience.

Psychological Assessment

  • Have you ever wondered why you are struggling in school? Are you concerned about your own child's academic difficulties?

  • Are you having problems with memory or trouble maintaining focus?

  • Is it a struggle to develop or maintain relationships?

  • Do you feel like no one really understands you or that you see the world differently than others?

  • Have you noticed a change in your mood and can't understand why?

  • Are you concerned about the patterns of your alcohol or substance use?

When we are having difficulties, the first step in dealing with them is understanding why.  This gives us a solid starting place to begin making things better. Psychological assessment uses a combination of techniques that are used to answer questions like these and develop hypotheses about a person's behavior, personality, and abilities.

I offer several types of psychological assessments:

  1. Therapeutic Assessment

  2. Educational & ADHD Assessment

  3. Substance Misuse Evaluations

  4. Personality Assessment
